Treetop Yoga with Erin McKay

Erin McKay's (E-RYT500) yoga journey began in graduate school when, stressed and seeking the "yoga high" her classmates described, she attended her first heated power yoga class. Though her initial experience left her worried about fainting or falling over, yoga would later become her sanctuary and passion.

After moving to the North Shore of Massachusetts in 2011, Erin was training for half marathons and the Boston Marathon when she decided to try yoga again, this time as a complement to her running routine. Taking classes at Treetop Yoga, Erin gradually built a consistent practice. Following the birth of her fourth child, as running became less central to her routine, yoga emerged as both a physically satisfying workout and a rare moment of solitude amid the busy days of parenting four children. What began as a supplementary practice evolved into a deep passion. Inspired by the supportive instruction she received, Erin completed her 200 hour teacher training and eventually took the leap to purchase Treetop Yoga, transforming from student to studio owner. Shortly after becoming a studio owner and completing her 300 hour YTT, Erin transformed her studio to a virtual platform and was able to maintain the close-knit Treetop community through the pandemic. A self-proclaimed arm balance enthusiast, Erin teaches various yoga styles with a focus on proper alignment. Her teaching philosophy is shaped by remembering her own beginnings on the mat, creating space for students to discover what resonates with them personally. This approach has made her classes accessible to practitioners of all levels and backgrounds.Erin has expanded her teaching beyond the studio walls, organizing and leading transformative yoga retreats across the globe.

Her retreat destinations include Tanzania, Italy, Morocco, Panama, and Colombia, where she creates immersive experiences that blend yoga practice with cultural exploration and community building. An active community member, Erin is passionate about developing programs and workshops that foster connection and introduce mindfulness into educational settings for students ages 2-18. She lives in Gloucester, MA, with her husband, Sean, and their four children: Caroline, Liam, Finn, and Cormac.Whether you're joining her in the studio or traveling to distant shores, Erin creates a welcoming environment where you can deepen your practice while discovering new perspectives—both on and off the mat.
